On July 14, SAIC Shangjie released the first official images of its debut model, the Shangjie H5. This marks the brand’s second Weibo update since its official account “Shangjie Auto” was registered on June 30. The Weibo account has since been verified as the official Shangjie Auto account, with its IP location in Beijing. Within just two weeks, the account has already gained over 9,000 followers.

According to available information, Shangjie Auto is a brand jointly created by SAIC Motor and Huawei, and is the fifth “jie” (sub-brand) under the Harmony Intelligent Mobility initiative. The brand will adopt Huawei’s “Zhixuan” (Smart Selection) car model strategy and is positioned as a brand that is “style-first, technology-first, trust-first, and people-first.” The first model, the Shangjie H5, is positioned as an SUV and is scheduled for launch this fall, equipped with Huawei’s advanced intelligent driving technology. Huawei’s Executive Director and Chairman of Consumer BG, Richard Yu, previously confirmed that the new model will carry Huawei’s advanced intelligent driving system with the signature “blue light” indicator. On the day of release, Yu further emphasized that the Shangjie H5 will be equipped with Huawei ADS 4, calling it the benchmark for intelligent driving and safety in its class.
Exterior Design
From the official images, the Shangjie H5 follows the family design language of Harmony Intelligent Mobility. The styling is clean, muscular, and full-bodied, giving it a refined yet powerful look. At the front, it features a closed-off grille paired with sharp headlights, offering strong visual recognition. The front bumper integrates a license plate bracket in the center, a large intake below, and L-shaped air ducts on both sides, emphasizing its sporty character. The illuminated brand logo, intelligent driving blue lights, and lidar sensors further enhance its technological presence.
The side profile adopts a flat roofline, suggesting a spacious cabin suitable for families. Unlike many rivals, the H5 does not use hidden door handles, instead retaining traditional ones, complemented by chrome trim around the windows for added visual sophistication. Cameras embedded in the front fenders contribute to its premium and high-tech appearance. At the rear, the SUV features full-width taillights with high recognition, a large roof spoiler, rear wiper, and chrome elements on the bumper, giving it a more upscale look. The exhaust is hidden for a cleaner design.
Interior and Powertrain
As of press time, official details on the interior and powertrain have not yet been released. Spy information suggests advanced tech features, but specifics remain limited. Further updates are expected in the near future.
Brand Background
SAIC Shangjie is a brand jointly developed by SAIC Motor and Huawei. The two parties signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement on February 21, covering product definition, manufacturing, supply chain, and sales services. The brand made its first public appearance at the Harmony Intelligent Mobility launch event on April 16. At the event, SAIC President Jia Jianxu revealed that SAIC had been in talks with Huawei since last year, had already invested RMB 6 billion (≈ USD 840 million), assembled a team of over 5,000 staff, and built a dedicated factory. Richard Yu praised the SAIC team for being aggressive and entrepreneurial, stating: “Shangjie will be a style-first brand, equipped with Huawei’s smart mobility solutions and developed under Harmony Intelligent Mobility’s strictest quality standards.”
Shangjie is the fifth brand under Harmony Intelligent Mobility, alongside:
AITO (Wenjie) – in cooperation with Seres
LUXEED (Zhijie) – in cooperation with Chery
STELATO (Xiangjie) – in cooperation with BAIC
MAEXTRO (Zunjie) – in cooperation with JAC
Currently, Harmony Intelligent Mobility’s lineup includes the AITO M5, M7, M8, and M9 (priced RMB 300,000–500,000 / ≈ USD 42,000–70,000), the LUXEED S7 and R7 (RMB 250,000–350,000 / ≈ USD 35,000–49,000), the STELATO S9 (RMB 400,000–450,000 / ≈ USD 56,000–63,000), and the MAEXTRO S800 (RMB 700,000–1,000,000 / ≈ USD 98,000–140,000).
The Shangjie H5 is expected to become the most affordable model in the Harmony Intelligent Mobility lineup, with multiple industry sources indicating a price range of RMB 150,000–250,000 (≈ USD 21,000–35,000). This means that for consumers eager to experience Huawei’s intelligent driving technology, the H5 could be a highly attractive entry point.
At this year’s Shanghai Auto Show, Richard Yu predicted that sales of the Shangjie brand’s first car would “explode.” Whether the H5, targeted at the mainstream market, can deliver strong value and become Harmony Intelligent Mobility’s next big hit remains to be seen.
Sales Momentum of Harmony Intelligent Mobility
As more sub-brands and models are added, Harmony Intelligent Mobility has set a bold target of 1 million sales in 2025. Official data shows that in June alone, the group delivered 52,747 vehicles. In just 39 months, cumulative deliveries have reached 800,000 units—setting a record as the fastest-growing new energy vehicle brand.
