On August 15th, the 2025 Audi Q2L was officially launched, offering two trim levels with guided prices of 171,800 yuan and 185,800 yuan respectively, remaining unchanged from the current models on sale. As a model-year update, the new car retains the design language of the existing models in terms of exterior, with only adjustments made to details and configurations.

The new car largely carries over the exterior design of the current models. The front grille features a horizontal Y-shaped mesh structure, paired with newly added high-gloss black trim strips around the headlights, enhancing a younger and sportier visual appeal. It is reported that the new Q2L will be available in four exterior colors: Glacier White, Flying Grey, Manganese Black, and Kailash Blue, providing users with abundant personalized choices. For the side profile and rear end, the styling remains largely unchanged. The official images show that the wheel arches, side skirts, and other components adopt a body-color design. The rear is equipped with smoked polygonal taillights with a layered light source layout, while the rear bumper is wrapped in a large area of black decorative panels. In terms of dimensions, the new car measures 4,270/1,785/1,547 mm in length/width/height with a wheelbase of 2,628 mm, positioning it as a subcompact SUV.
The interior layout of the new Audi Q2L remains unchanged, featuring a 12.3-inch full HD digital instrument cluster and 10-color ambient lighting. The central control screen is upgraded to 8.8 inches, paired with Audi’s smartphone interface supporting wireless CarPlay. Additionally, the new car is equipped with keyless entry. The seats have also been redesigned, offering 8 different color options.
Compared to the (Jinqu Dongganxing/Entry Dynamic trim), the (Shishang Dongganxing/Fashion Dynamic trim) has a 14,000-yuan higher guided price but adds features such as automatic air conditioning, adaptive cruise control, reverse camera, electric folding exterior mirrors, Audi Connect package, Serica eco-friendly leather seats with diamond quilting, and illuminated door sill plates with S line logos.
The new Audi Q2L is powered by a 1.5T engine with a maximum power of 118 kW and peak torque of 250 N·m, mated to a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. It also comes with a progressive steering system and an electronic stability control (ESP) system integrated with an off-road mode, enhancing handling and stability.
The Audi Q2, a subcompact SUV, was first unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Based on Volkswagen’s MQB platform, it serves as Audi’s entry-level SUV, offering diverse customization options to meet the personalization needs of the new generation and unlock a youthful perspective on luxury brands. At the 2018 Chengdu Motor Show, FAW-Volkswagen Audi officially launched the domestic Q2L, which was extended from the overseas Q2 with a wheelbase of 2,628 mm, providing more spacious rear seating and improved comfort. Initially, the Q2L was powered solely by an EA211 1.4T engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, delivering 150 hp and 250 N·m of torque. It officially went on sale in October 2018 with two design styles (Zhoya/Elegant and Donggan/Dynamic) and a price range of 217,700-279,000 yuan. A mid-cycle facelift was introduced at the 2021 Chengdu Motor Show, with revised exterior details and the addition of an RS Kit Ran Su type. In August 2023, the Q2L received another update, upgrading to a new EA211 1.5T engine with a maximum power of 160 hp.
The Audi Q2L is the smallest SUV under FAW-Volkswagen Audi. Neither Mercedes-Benz nor BMW offers a fuel-powered competitor in the same positioning. In the new energy vehicle market, its peers include the smart #1 and Volvo EX30. Data shows that only 3,020 units of the Audi Q2L were sold from January to July 2025, reflecting lackluster sales performance.
Notably, the Audi Q2 is planned to be phased out. According to foreign media Autocar, Audi has reversed its decision to stop producing internal combustion engine vehicles by 2033 and will continue manufacturing fuel-powered cars until around 2035 or possibly longer. Furthermore, the A1 and Q2 models will be discontinued, with the A3 and Q3 becoming the new entry-level models in the future. In other words, if the overseas Q2 is discontinued, the domestic Q2L may follow suit. Given its current underwhelming performance, discontinuing the Q2L would have little impact on FAW-Volkswagen Audi. However, the final decision on its discontinuation remains subject to official confirmation
