Zhijie is developing an MPV, expected to launch in the first half of next year

According to multiple media reports, Zhijie Auto, a brand under Huawei’s HarmonyOS Intelligent Mobility , is developing an MPV. This will be the brand’s first MPV model. The vehicle, internally codenamed “EHV”, will be built on the E0X-L platform and offered in both pure electric and extended-range versions, with batteries supplied by CATL. It is expected to launch in the first half of next year.

Reports suggest that the Zhijie MPV project actually originated from the EXEED E08. The concept car debuted at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, with mass production originally planned for 2025. Insiders revealed that development of the EXEED E08 has since been halted, with some staff from the Xingji Yuan (EXEED Galaxy) team transferred to Zhijie to strengthen its MPV development.

An automotive blogger noted on social media that “at the beginning of this year, Chery fully committed to the Zhijie brand, reallocating resources from the EXEED Galaxy team. The MPV is only the first step—this reorganization will become the norm.” In response to comments suggesting EXEED Galaxy should be shut down, the blogger replied: “The pause of new models, staff transfers, and restructuring already speak volumes.”

EXEED E08 Concept Car
The EXEED E08, which previewed the upcoming Zhijie MPV, targeted the 400,000–800,000 RMB MPV market. Designed by EXEED’s European and Shanghai styling teams, it showcased a “Fusion Luxury” theme. Its “One Box” design was inspired by EXEED’s “Cyber Butterfly” family look, with a signature “Phoenix Wing” front fascia. The E08 measured nearly 5.3 meters long, 2 meters wide, and 1.9 meters high, with a 3.2-meter wheelbase.

Chery’s EXEED Brand Performance
EXEED was launched in November 2018 as Chery’s third attempt to enter the premium segment. It carries Chery’s high-end ambitions, with Chairman Yin Tongyue comparing the group’s brand ladder as: “Jetour is Chery’s Skoda, Chery is Volkswagen, and EXEED is Chery’s Audi.” EXEED consists of the EXEED and Xingji Yuan sub-series. Current EXEED products include the Lingyun, Zhuifeng, Yaoguang, and Lanshuo, while Xingji Yuan sells only the ET and ES EVs.

Sales data shows that in the first half of 2025, the Xingji Yuan ES sold 9,953 units (the brand’s best performer), followed by the EXEED Lingyun (6,620 units) and Xingji Yuan ET (6,361 units). Overall, however, both EXEED and Xingji Yuan have struggled in the market, facing overlap and even internal competition with Zhijie. Some netizens have criticized them for “dragging down Zhijie’s sales.”

Zhijie and Its Market Position
Zhijie is co-developed by Chery and Huawei under the HarmonyOS Smart Mobility umbrella. Current models include the Zhijie S7 (mid-to-large sedan) and Zhijie R7 (mid-to-large SUV). In the first half of 2025, the Zhijie R7 achieved 42,100 sales, second only to the AITO M9 within the HarmonyOS ecosystem, while the S7 lagged at just 4,503 units.

Neither EXEED nor Chery Holdings has publicly commented on the media reports. If confirmed, the launch of the Zhijie MPV will broaden the brand’s product portfolio, enhance competitiveness, and give consumers more options in the growing Chinese MPV market.
